The Art of Returning to Wonderland

"When the day becomes the night and the sky becomes the sea, when the clock strikes heavy, and there's no time for tea; and in our darkest hour, before my final rhyme, she will come back home to Wonderland and turn back the hands of time." Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland. In the realm of artist Pamela Fingerhut, her distinctive fusion of floral fancies, doll plays, tattoo montages, and melting ice cream into teacups creates a whimsical and unexpected theme that enchants and captivates her viewers.

Pamela's artistic odyssey commenced in the District of Columbia, Washington, DC, where she drew inspiration from her father, a photographer, and her photography and digital arts instructors. She diligently refined her skills, earning a Bachelors from the University of Hartford and a Masters of Fine Art Photography at the University of Long Island. Followed by her studies at the International Center of Photography in New York City. Reflecting on her path, Pamela shares, "Years ago I used film, eventually transitioning into the art of digital images just as it was making its mark in the world of Fine Art."

She states, "I have spent the majority of my life exploring the natural and my own imagined worlds. I generally work on long-term projects. I challenge myself to give viewers of my work an interpretive emotional experience." Pamela creates her art from two home studios; one she can make completely dark, and the other affords her great light with plenty of space to set up her computer and printer. She collects her inspiration from many sources: the differences between people, their culture, our country, everything in the natural world, and the friendship of a group of amazing creative women who have become part of her life.

Pamela employs her artistic expression in unique ways by manipulating elements of women, nature, and often, objects and items, to convey a narrative she wishes to express in her unique perspective of the world. Her future ambitions include continuous growth through workshops and learning from peers, a more aggressive exploration of montage, and showcasing her work in as many venues as possible across the United States and Europe.

Undoubtedly, artist Pamela Fingerhut has laid a strong foundation thus far with exhibits in Israel, Budapest, Scottsdale, and at the Julia Cameron Awards in Barcelona, Spain, in the spring of this year. She also mentioned the extensive client and collector base she's built over the past few years. Pamela is a Sonoran Arts League and Art Talk member in Carefree, Arizona. Artist Pamela Fingerhut continues to move toward parts unknown, much like the adventurous young lady of Alice, fascinated by that fleeting rabbit dashing down the rabbit hole to the wonderland of her boundless imagination. Pamela will always end up with a tale to enchant her viewers, sending their imaginations wondering into endless fascinating possibilities.
